JEWELLERY
Small gold semi-permanent jewels called twinkles can be bonded onto the teeth.
Or, if you'd like a more permanent option this can also be offered. Porcelain
and gold crowns with diamond inlays can also be supplied. 1. Horizontal
Symmetry:
Draw an imaginary horizontal line through the centre of both your pupils and
another horizontal line between the tips of your canine teeth. Ideally, these
two horizontal lines should be parallel. Often, one side slopes down. 2. Vertical
Symmetry:
Draw an imaginary vertical line through the centre of your face. This mid-line
should run through the centre of your eyes, nose and chin. Ideally, the mid-line
should also run through your two central incisors thus making the central
incisors a mirror image of each other.3. Smile Width:
Ideally, a wide smile will show your first molar to first molar tooth. Although
if you have a narrow smile you may only see the front six teeth from canine
to canine. 4. Smile Line:
Draw an imaginary curve along the bottom of your upper teeth and compare it
to an imaginary curve of your lower lip. Ideally, your smile should be curved
in order to look younger. 5. Gum Line:
Draw an imaginary curve along the top of your upper teeth. Ideally, only the
pink triangular parts of gum between the teeth show. However, some people
show a lot more gum or the gum that shows is uneven giving an irregular gum
line. 6. The Golden Proportion:
This special proportion was discovered by the Greeks and is found in many
areas of nature. Ideally, the widths of each of the front teeth compared to
the next follows this special proportion. 7. Tooth Proportion:
Ideally the width of a tooth should be approximately 80% of the length. However
for patients that wear/grind their teeth, this ration is closer to 1:1 as
the teeth have shortened and become squarer. This is a way to measure exactly
how much tooth has been lost over the years and is often used to rebuild edges
of teeth to their ideal proportions and perfect smile. 8. Embrasure Space:
These are the little triangular like spaces between the tips of the front
teeth. Without embrasure spaces, the teeth would look like flat piano keys
with no character to them. Ideally, the embrasure spaces should be smallest
between the two central incisors and gradually become larger as you examine
teeth further into the mouth. An ideal feminine smile tends to have more definite
round embrasures. At home - A special plastic tray containing the bleach gel
is worn at night for approximately 6-8 weeks. The teeth are whitened
up to 5 shades with this methodIn surgery - Britesmile. A revolutionary
technique where the bleaching gel is painted onto the teeth in the surgery
and activated by a special light. It takes approximately 1 hour and the teeth
are lightened by up to 10 shades using this method.Mercury is continuously
released from amalgam
fillings, and numerous research investigations have clearly shown that
mercury from this source provides the major contribution to body burden of
mercury. The vapour has a direct pathway to the brain. It is inhaled into
the lungs, oxidized to ionic mercury and binds to cell proteins.Due to the
danger of releasing mercury by removing amalgam
fillings the following is a priority order for the removal: Root canal-treated
teeth with pins or screw-posts of non-precious metals and metal crowns with
amalgam cores should be treated first. Next are amalgams
in direct constant contact with gold. Often the amalgam can be removed while
the gold inlays, the crown or the bridge, can be left. What to do with the
fold can be decided later. Where there is direct intermittent biting contact
between amalgam and gold in opposing teeth. Where there is direct contact
between amalgam and other metals like partial chromium-cobalt dentures. Most
patients have several different types of amalgam fillings, and the ones containing
the newer types of amalgam high in copper (non-gamma-2 amalgam) should be
removed first. The priority order between different filings can be based on
the patient's own opinions or visible signs of corrosion and discoloration.
Amalgam fillings in contact with gum tissue. It might be necessary to remove
metal-impregnated gum tissue surgically. At 57 Friar Gate, we like our patients
to visit the laboratory so that the technician making the crowns, bridges
or veneers can actually see you the patient and perfectly match the shade
for your new smile.
The technician, by seeing you personally, can also get an idea of the shape
of your face and of your lip lines which all affect the final outcome of your
new smile.
